NAME: Martin do Nascimento

SCHOOL: University of Texas at Austin, dual-degree master’s candidate in journalism and Latin American studies.

BEFORE NEWS21: I worked as a videographer for Peace Corps in Washington, D.C. I’ve been studying at the University of Texas for the past two years and have interned at the Austin American-Statesman and The Texas Tribune. I also have worked as the photo editor for Reporting Texas and have been extremely fortunate to have worked closely with Donna DeCesare, Eli Reed and Tracy Dahlby while at UT.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON? I’ve been working with other journalists to examine California’s marijuana system. California is fascinating because it’s a grab bag in terms of regulation. I’ve also taken a look at how Native American tribes are dealing with marijuana issues.

FUN FACT: I just got married in Paris on May 6!
