NAME: Brianna Gurciullo, The Kathryn Green Endowment and The Stephen Holly Bronz Endowment Fellow

SCHOOL: George Washington University, 2015 graduate

BEFORE NEWS21: I spent a year as editor in chief of The GW Hatchet, an independent student newspaper. I started as a metro news reporter and served as an editor for a year and a half before the staff elected me editor in chief. I also interned for The Record-Journal in Connecticut as a general assignment reporter and Hearst Newspapers’ Washington bureau as a political reporter.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON? I’m leading a team investigating the pro-legalization movement in the United States, including spending, strategies, tactics, rationale and motives. I’m also a part of a team investigating the same aspects of organizations opposed to marijuana legalization. Finally, I’m co-leading a story about D.C.’s limited legalization of marijuana.

FUN FACT: I met and had dinner with Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein before they appeared on The Kalb Report last fall at the National Press Club.
